Replacing my budget combo stone

Tue Nov 19, 2013 2:31 pm

Hi I am looking for a sharpening stone for a shun premier knives and sabatier thiers knives. I'm kinda lost at what stone to by and what makes them better. I'm currently using a generic stone from the Asian market 600/1000 grit stone. I sharpen the knives weekly or about every 3-4 days. The stone I have know seems to wear and warp pretty quick. Any recommendations?

Thanks,
Derek

Hi Derek,

This is a complete set that will give you everything you need and includes our best selling stones.

We also sell these stones individually so if you want to get just a couple you can do that as well.

I'd recommend shying away from another combo stone. Most I've seen/used where not as good as individual stone's.

I'd recommend getting a set like Mark suggested, or getting a 500, 1000, and 6000 grit range stones.

A very good two stone set - http://www.chefknivestogo.com/4pcshstset.html
I would also suggest getting this - http://www.chefknivestogo.com/xxcdiplandun.html
I like this for a low grit stone you can add at any time - http://www.chefknivestogo.com/shaptonpro320x.html

Together this will be a great set up.
