Yes I use boron on leather and what I did is just paint it on nice and thin. It does come off if you touch it so usually I keep the strop in a plastic bag and I'm careful not to brush it against my clothes. It works well on leather but I think I prefer it on balsa since the balsa fibers seem to help the compound stick to it a little better. You can also try loading the bc on the rough side of your leather. It's a little harder to apply but it holds onto it better.
