Why does Australia customs hold packages for weeks at a time before they release them?

Mark, probabaly somebody thinks "let me check this package!" and goes home without touching it . Next day that person pulls "sickie" (not turning up for work) Two days later he tells his subordinate to check it but since they all are on a break it stays another day . Fourth day somebody makes the executive decision to check it and send it but it is 3.45 pm and the day is almost over , so " No worries " mentality kicks in . Next day despite the all good intentions of the customs it is another random public holiday and you have the wait for the weekend...

Welcome to the Australian Standard Time... I have to book in week advance for an $220 oil change.. :x

Weird. I order stuff from India and Russia all the time and it passes US customs ASAP. Like, it only takes one week to get it to passImage
