Are you a rod user, strop user or do you do something else to touch up your edges?

Recently I've been doing neither. I currently keep a high grit finisher in a holder on my counter and I give my knives a quick session with light strokes on that one stone. I find it helps improve my sharpening to do short and frequent practice sessions and just like using a rod or stropping it works really well until the edge degrades enough to need a new grinding session.

8 strokes per side after use on leather over glass loaded with Boron Carbide - as good as new!

No fuss - no mess - hangs on a cup hook under the counter I work on.

:)

Same as rookie for me. I prefer strops.

Either a charged leather strop or charged balsa wood.

Home cook now, so I just use a high grit stone. Sometimes I'll rough it up on the honing rod for effect, but not to touch it up.

I've been using a polished honing rod for a while, and it works stupid well, even after a week or so of heavy veg prep.
When it gets rough I take it to the stones and strop, but the time between sessions is getting longer...
