Hey Mark,

I'm going nuts trying to figure out where to go next with my sharpening.

At work I am using a Norton Cryolon coarse / fine and am good at freehand, cutting forward, it works great.
The knives are all Forschners.

I own an Edgepro that I bought from you and while I like it, it is a bit clunky for me.

I have a sharp maker, but I am having a hard time putting a razor edge on my recurve Kershaw 350 with it
(I can get it sharp, but it doesn't want to get as sharp as my other folders).

I also own the leather strop set-up I bought from you and haven't used it yet.

Is there any point in looking into water stones or the Shapton set-up.

Or is it time to get busy with the strop?

I'm thinking that I can get the same results with the strop that I can get spending several
hundred dollars on new stones.

You're the expert, please tell me what you think.

Bill

Wait, so you don't get any better results with the edge pro than you do freehand? What progressions are you using?

Certainly try the strop; why not use it? You already own it!

I agree, break out the strop set and add this to your routine before you do anything else. I got a quantum leap in performance once I started stropping my knives.
