Well it's official. Can't browse the forum from a machine without an add blocker (My phone...)

Don't need hard core porn adverts popping up on my phone (At least if thats not what i'm looking for). First time i wasn't sure it was from the forum because I had a lot of stuff open. This time i'm sure. All my sessions were closed off, only site opened was CKTG forum....

Might want to look at tightening it up (Either through settings at the hosting provider or finding a more reputable ad network)

BADOINK was the porn site that was popping up all the time back in February 2013. It had gone away... :|

Just wanted to add for Mr. Richmond's sake that the ads today (for me) have been Sur La Table ads specifically for Japanese knives (Shuns it looks like). I have no idea what technology you use for this forum or how the ads work, but it did kind of annoy me that people could be poached away from a CKTG.

MARK <> If you look at the bottom of the page, you will see this Forum is hosted by freeforums.org, and you know the ole adage - you get what you pay for. ;)

In fact, CKTG does pay a nominal yet annual fee to limit ads. Trust me... it was MUCH worse.

Thanks Mel. I never bothered to check out the link. According to their website it costs $5/month to remove ALL ads. I don't see any other option regarding ads. Perhaps your thinking of the difference between browsing anonymous or logged in? If your anon you get more Ads.

Either CKTG has a grandfathered feature or the feature is no longer active. Seems a rather nominal fee to avoid the issue altogether.

In the meantime, this appears to be the way to report the ads to them:

http://help.freeforums.org/support/solu ... e-ad-on-my

It appears that you have to be the owner of the forum to report inappropriate ads?? That seems crazy. But their website is not that clear so maybe i'm misunderstanding and anyone can report (Although you do seem to need to create an account and submit a ticket?? also crazy). They should just have a mailbox to collect this stuff from anyone. If your a forum mod or owner sure open a ticket if you want a response.

I despise the entire nature of advertising. It's sickening...

The ads seem to be related to recent browsing history. Actually - if you click the link (the little blue triangle in the upper right hand corner) in the ad box at the top of the page, it explicitly states that it uses your browsing history to select ads for you.

I mean, there is such a thing as good natured advertising, but that's rare.
