Hi Mark!

I know nothing about knives and could really use your recommendation for the best chef's knife to primarily cut fruits and veggies!

Thanks!
Lori

Hi Lori,

I just started a new forum for Chefknivestogo. Do you mind if I use your question and my answer? It will help others who read it. I'll only use your first name if I post it.

Are you right handed?

Do you like to rock the knife or push cut primarily?

Do you want a knife that is stainless?

Do you want to get a western handled knife or Japanese handle?

How much did you want to spend on the Chef Knife/Gyuto?

Hi Mark!

Thank you for your help and yes, feel free to use this for your question and answer forum!

I am right-handed and like to rock the knife!

As for whether or not I prefer stainless, I don't know enough about it to be able to answer your question! I guess this is where I need your assistance!

As for the handle, I also don't know enough about it to answer your question! I know I want something comfortable because I do a lot of chopping/slicing and I am willing to spend up to $150 if I need to in order to get the knife that I am happy with, that will last a long time and meets my needs! I wouldn't mind a variety of price range suggestions though!

I have a friend that has a Shun that she really likes and I have read good reviews on MACs! Again, I am in dire need of advice! Seems like there is so much to consider I will be researching forever! :) I heard dimples might be good since I cut a lot of veggies?

Again, thank you for your help!
Lori

Here are 2 that you should look at:

Shun premiers have a nice big belly on the knife and the 8" chef knife is on sale. It's a good value:

Mac is also a good knife and I like that choice for you. It has less belly but it's a good knife and I think you would enjoy it. Try this one:

I would go with a MAC, they perform a little bit better, but don't look as purrrty. :)
