Hey all, did anyone get a tall one of these?

Would you like to, I don't know, maybe, swap it for a midget?

Mine came in the other day, I haven't had time to measure it yet but it looks like it is >45mm tall, I don't have knuckle clearance, it is like a slicer to me, lol.

Dan you had me curious, so I just measured mine, the one I received comes in right at 47.5mm at the very edge of the heel. I also am use to using a little taller Gyuto, and when I opened the box I thought mine was short too. On a side note, the profile is a dead ringer to my 1950's Forgecraft chefs knife.

The Moritaka KS is patterned after the profile of the Masamoto KS, and the Masamoto is around 45 mm at the heel.

Next stop, B/S/T?

I'm going to actually measure it tonight, with Mother's Day I have been mobbed. I like the look of the knife but if it too short to be useful I will have to make moves to get rid of it.

JeffB, lucky dog.

Like Jeff B I have a 1 year or so old Masamoto KS that is about 49.5 mm tall at the heel. Masamoto seems to be forging their more recent blades taller. My older Moritaka and Ikeda KS measure 46 mm tall which is consistent with the height of the original Masamoto KS and the Sabatier profile. If you are looking for a taller height 250 blade look at the newer Masamoto's and have Mark check the blade height before you order.
