Thanks for the info Melampus. I only gave the 58-61 range because I've seen various numbers thrown out about the HRC on Globals. I wasn't sure which one was correct. I currently use a ceramic rod albeit a crappy one from Ikea. Looks like I'll pick up a strop. Thanks!

Your Ikea ceramic is still harder than the Konosuke steel & is therefore capable of manipulating it, but the finish is most probably in the 400-800 grit range... no where I'd like to bring my edges.
