Were you shaving your arm before you took this picture?
As a matter of fact yes I was. Extremely observant of you and a good point for taking pictures, wipe the blade clean. I always polish the blades before giving them back to the owner but I should have done it before the picture too.
1. Rotate the blade when working the tip area to prevent the bevel "creep" (widening) from setting in.
2. Put a 15degree micro bevel on the edge to strengthen it for durability.
MadRookie I always enjoy and learn from your tips. I've given the knife away so too late for the micro-bevel but I agree, I should have applied it, I will when she brings it back to me for re-sharpening. (Rob Babcock and you are the ones who taught me all about Micro Bevels)
As for rotating the blade, I've made that mistake before, the bevel "creep", with a precison device like the EP I shouldn't be doing that. I will repeat the procedure on a similar knife and post the picture for your scrutiny.
As always, thanks.
