Title says it all.

Don't know that it makes any difference but:
-Right handed
-The two knives above, 240mm
-Carbon or Stainless
-Wa
-~$260-$270
-I pretend to sharpen

So I am a blasphemer, I do not own a Kono (well...Addict SLD and Suji HH on the way). I will have one one day. But many many moons ago I decided I wanted a monosteel carbon knife and swore I would buy either the Kono Wt#2 or Yusuke Wt#2, which ever came in first, the second they got here.

So fast forward, now that I have played with the Addict SLD I am really digging on semi-stainless tool steels, and Kono is AWESOME. So what am I to do. The Yusuke has gone up in price so that I could get an HD for the same money. So what would you do? And why?

Yusuke is closer to a true 240, Kono runs short.
Yusuke handle is more tapered than kono.

Both great knives, nice f&f and very similar. Since you already own a kono I would... flip a coin :)

I own a Kono W#2 and have only held the Yusuke. I can't say enough good about the Kono; F&F and grind are fantastic.
They both are crazy thin behind the edge and seemed to both have a nice taper. Besides a few mm in length the only thing i can think of that would differentiate the two would be profile, which I did not get a good look at on the Yusuke.
you can't go wrong here.

CEDAR <> I think it should really come down to steel; you get the best of both worlds with the HD. I won't claim to have used a Yusuke, but I have 7 or 8 or 9 Konosukes for a reason. My opinion is the Konosuke HD <--link is just WAY TOO GOOD to not choose. Remember my words, "steel from the g-ds."

Another difference, since it seems like you're looking for them, is the Kono kanji is engraved as opposed to the screened Yusuke... :P

Both are the definition of a laser, it comes down to your steel preference. My first laser was the Yusuke 240. At the time I bought it the Kono wh#2s were out of stock and the Yusuke was available and less $. The Yusuke has a nice tapered handle and the blade is a razor and easy to sharpen. I also have 3 Konos and they are well deserved of their excellent reputation.
