Id go for the 220 over the 320 , its a little harder and will make a better transition ( I feel) to the much harder 1500.

The pros are awesome

Many say that the 1.5k has much better feel and feedback than the 1k. I have the 1k and plan on trying the 1.5 after I wear this one out.

I say absolutely go for the 1500 , its an excellent stone and will get you just that little bit further beyond the 1k. Fwiw the 1k shapton is a little coarser I feel , more along the lines of a 800 or so.

The 1500 also transitions into finer stones well such as the 5k , without any need for the 2k.

220 , 1500 , 5000 is an excellent starter set for those interested in trying some pro stones.
