Hi guys, I really need your help right now, I am very concerned. A black dot apeared at the carbon part of my Kohetsu AS. There is no hight in it, but is that rust? Will it ruin my knife if i leave it there? What should I do?
Thanks a lot for the help, and I'm sorry if it looks that I am desperate, it's beacuse I am, my baby may be in danger.

Thankfully,

Atoms

On carbon knives the black forms to protect the steel from rust. It will not ruin you knife if you leave it there.
If you want to take it off, some Barkeepers Friend and a plastic scrubber should remove it.
Unless you keep wiping you knife dry, and oiling it after each use, the black spot will come back.
I have several Carbon steel knives here, the black spots are no big deal at all.

As long as it isn't red/orange and soft, you're ok

Thank you very much for the help, it was a false alarm, but you probably remeber how you acted with your first knife.
The replies were great,

Mark, that's one of Tim's latest creations. It's on his sub forum in a recent post.
