Chosera!!! I also have the nubatama ume 1k and the chosera wins for me hands down. Holds water better, doesn't load badly, good scratch pattern and fast cutting. Just my opinion though :)

You may consider the Chosera 800, corresponds more or less to a 1.2k JIS. Very versatile.

I went for the Shapton Pro 1k. Used it last night after my Beston 500. Felt great.
I still have a lot of holes to fill on my progressions, but I am temporarily happy.
