A customer asks:

Do you have any suggestions as to what water stones would be ideal for the hard white steel core?

You only need to get a little picky with some of the more exotic steels like the powdered metallurgy steels.

Until you try some, and understand what you like and dislike about them, stones are all the same.

Coach, how did that harbor freight diamond hone work for you? I have heard they wear out quickly and are not always true...but then it is practically free.

Cedar,
It was like sharpening on a concrete block. It had the feel of one at least. It rusted quickly. It wasn't all that true. The "diamonds" wore off on two of the sides fairly quickly. But I learned how to free hand!

I don't think I would have bought all the stones here if it wasn't for it. I'd still be on my Lansky sharpener (I come from a pocketknife background).

So I paid around $7 with a coupon and got my money's worth.
