I was also wondering how I would go about sharpening my kyrocera ceramic knive. I would prefer to have that sharpened by a professional but would also like some information on retaining the edge. Maybe a recommendation for some stones. I currently own the Takeda whetstone but would like another stone to compliment it. Any and all recommendations are welcome.

Thanks,

Matt

I'm not sure if any of the guys on our forum can do ceramics. You need to use diamond plates to cut ceramic.

Kyocera does them. Take a look here: http://kyoceraadvancedceramics.com/lifetime-sharpening/

I sharpen quality ceramic knives, but i don't know if shipping to the Netherlands is an option for you.

An example of my work:

If your located in Canada or don't mind shipping it across the border I can do it.

For touchups work with your sharpener , find out what grit they finish up on. Then grab a bottle of corresponding Polycrystalline Diamond and a nanocloth strop.

Been sharpening them for years. Forget about using stones.

CBN works on ceramic knives as do diamond films and plates. The plates cause more chipping than the films.

You can get these VERY sharp. Just don't expect to generate a burr :)
