I'm sure this was addressed somewhere, but I have a Shapton Pro 1k and wanted to get a higher and a lower grit SHapton. Would it make more sense to continue to get Pros, or is it ok to go to glass? I'd be sharpening a variety of carbon steels, as well as VG10. I notice the pros can tend to cost more too- is this because they are larger? Are they both equally as hard? Thanks
E

Stick with the pro stones, doesn't really make sense to switch.

The GS stones cut faster, dish less & works better on harder steels.......

:)

Agree with Jason, stick with the Pros. I'd add the 320 and 5k to your 1k.

I dislike the GlassStones. Using them feels like how I imagine having sex with a robot would be... disconnected & cold with ZERO feedback.

This made me laugh, too funny!

I have never used the pros, so my opinion is biased. But I own several of the Shapton glass stones and love them, they are excellent!

Have you tried sleeping with my ex-wife? It'd give you a good idea of sex with a robot ;)

I had some Glass and Pro on my edge pro, and I enjoyed them both.

I did buy the big green brick on forum sale (moving to freehands) but will probably go with Glass as I purchase more stones.
