Just got back from the ECCKS show this past weekend. The wife and I made a little vacation out of it and stayed overnight in Jersey City. Our first night without our 9 month old!
The show was awesome, we got to meet knife makers from around the world. It was a bit disappointing though to see almost NO chef knives. Nothing other than Kevin Cross's stuff (which were very nice). I cant remember the name but last year there was a gentleman from Japan with a beautiful array of great looking well priced blades and a ton of water stones. I got a chance to handle some knives in the 30K to 40K range. Holy Moly. Really cool and inspiring stuff. Cant wait for this brutal cold to break and I can get back outside grinding:)

So close yet so far. Darn. That would have been a nice outting this weekend with the kids and only about 20 miles up the road.

Hope you enjoyed your "vacation". Hard but nice to get away!!

Nice! I went to the Timonium Knife Show in MD back when I was in college, lots of fun! Yeah, not much out there in custom kitchen knives though :(

I am not sure of the rules linking to other Forums or I would link to a great thread of one of the photographers that was there (pics galore). Some truly stunning stuff. However, I am really wanting to attend a chef knife show at some point, if there is such a thing.
