I was working on the shinogi on my seki cut yanagi I had decided the cutting bevel was way too wide so I had thinned virtually to the edge with a very slight convex bevel on the shinogi to the edge so I was working up through the grits and had got to 1000 grit Ume by this stage I had been working on it for sometime and I was trying to use all the stone so possible fortunately for me I was working up some mud on the last inch of the stone sharpening near the kissaki and then what a daft thing I did the blade went off the stone my index finger slipped off the blade and I caught my finger between the blade and the stone on the return stroke my hands were moving too quick to notice what had occured and I ended up with quite a deep cut .
Fortunately I was able to complete the sharpening since I still had the cutting edge bevel to do and more polishing on the shinogi :o .
The end result was worth it the cutting bevel is very small the knife is sharp and my finger will heal & next time I work near the edge of the stone I slow down and pay a lot more attention .

Ouch. I'm surprised I haven't done that yet myself.

Ouch, I haven't seen blood all week, your link isn't working? At least for me it's not.
Hope you heal up quick.

Yeah get well soon. Good thing about sharp cuts is its painless when it happens and they heal quickly...usually.

Ouch! That sounds unpleasant, but I hope it heals up quickly. Next time I sharpen I'm going to be hyper conscious of that possibility though.
