How do you sharpen yours effectively?

I use a ceramic rod for stuff like this. You can round the edge or your stone and work with that too. You need a convex sharpening surface to be able to get at the edge.

Best route is a ceramic hone before it gets to be a problem. If you have a lot of metal to remove, use a stone's edge.
