For sharpening on the right side try rotating your stone to get a more comfortable angle.

I'm in the midst of doing that, trying to find the right movements, stone angle, that are best for me.
I just tried another chefs knife, I'm not doing the best job but I'm having fun trying.
The strops work good without any compounds or sprays.
Very impressed.
