My buddy Matt Delosso offered to do a couple custom handles for my Second Harvest knives so I'm thinking of auctioning them off and giving all the proceeds to them.

What do you think? Should we do it here on the forum or on Ebay? I've never done a charity auction but it seems like fun.

Ebay would be less trouble for you but Ebay gets there cut that would reduce the profit to donate. I would prefer to do it here. I'll help in any way I can.

Ebay gets their VIG, but expands your audience by millions. :geek:

keep it in house.
But if you are auctioning a lot of knives then ebay might be better due to size of audience.

thanks again for doing a great job, customer service etc

I say start in house and later move to ebay for the stragglers. You want to get the most amount of profit for charity.

Great idea! I love Matt's custom handle and I also prefer to start it here.

You should have no trouble auctioning off anything with one of Matt's handles.
He has a great eye, I really enjoy looking at his work.
Selling on Ebay will cost you at least 18 percent of the proceeds. You may not get as many bids as you think on Ebay.
It seems the only stuff that gets lots of bid activity is Shun, and a few other recognizable Japanese brands.
