Any of you guys from the UK ever have problems sending folders from the USA?

We've never tried it but a customer ordered a Shun Higo folder and we're ignorant about the policies there.

We've had trouble shipping folders to Canada so we won't do it anymore to that country.

I've sent a couple to Scotland. The issue seems to be with "gravity knives," or self-opening knives. The buyers asked me to tighten the pivot bolt down so the knife was REALLY hard to open, so the Customs folks couldn't flip it open and call it a gravity knife and confiscate it. It worked, but it does seem risky.

A lot of countries (UK included I believe) have laws against locking blades and blade length as well. Seems like it doesn't take much for customs to decide a folder is illegal and keep it.

Hence the question.

Seems complicated by the distinction between what you can own and what you can carry.

Forgive the ignorance, but do most customs agencies have points of contact, phone or e-mail, for this sort of question?
