This New Years I was supposed to go out on a first date with a coworker who I have had a crush on for months. I took me awhile to get the guts to talk to her for the first time. Surprisingly she asked me to hang out with her on New Year's Eve for our first date. On my way to her house on that night my car broke down on the freeway half an hour before her sister was going to drop us off at a party. I called her and it sounded like she thought I was lying. Also the city tow trucks that tow your car off the freeway are all off on New Year's Eve, so it took me like 3 hours to find someone who will pick me up and who has AAA. Finally got to my grandparents house (because they have a lot big enough for me to store my car at) and it was 11:30. So I spent the count down drinking yea with my grandparents. And now my coworker just avoids me.

My best NYE was spent spearfishing and then spending time with family and friends. I caught a bunch of reef fish and octopus to share with my family and friends in a joyous feast!

For my first NewYearsEve off in 9 years, I spent it with my 8 month old daughter. It was the most domesticated and quiet night Ive had in a long time...and it was perfect. After putting her to bed, spent some time running the knives on the waterstone and crashed. Probably won't see another one of those soon.

Best: spent quiet night with just the wife - none of the usual too many people...
Worst: too much rum left me not eating & snoring chop chop....

:)

Wow, compare to you guys my New Year evening/days have been very uneventful. Just hang out with family. So, depending all your perspective, my New Years have either all been great or all been lame. Good thing I enjoy hanging out with the family.

Seems that many of the members of this group prefer to go bed early New Year's eve. Likewise, I went to bed at 9 to get up next day at 5. Previously did some carving and sharpening. Started reading a book on how to make a guitar.

The lamest NYE for me was spending 4 hours waiting for a friend at downtown restaurant/bar, downing a martini every few minutes. I was thrown out of the restaurant at just about right after the countdown. I couldn't down a martini for years after. :)

Worst was this year. After getting rush with 280 reservations my graveyard coverage decided to call in. Granted I had been there since 7am...now I couldn't not get any coverage and had to stay over to manage another 120 for overnight. I guess they say if you start the year working your butt off it is a sign of a prosperous and heavy work through out the year! Happy and prosperous 2014
