Hi Mark, hope that your holidays have been great.

I just recived my items that I ordered from you a few weeks ago, came in good condition and cant wait to start use them.

However, one of the items is the DMT XXC plate that I bought mainly to flatten my stones,

so I started the process.

I attacked my well used 1000/4000 grit combo whetstone, it cut good and made it flat, but it left some notisble scratches or well deeper scars instead of a new clean. so since I know you use this very DMT for flattening to. is this result same on your stones, and will these scars on my whetstone really affect my sharpening ? in that case, did I bought a to rough DMT and maybe should have gone with a finer DMT that dose not cut so deep?.

I´m about to recive my next stone witch will be a 6k-10k stone, and if these scars really affect the preformance on my sharpening, I´m afraid that my DMT is in that case to rough and will not really serve it´s purpose.

Best Regards.

Victor

Hi Victor,

I get the question a lot.

Scratches have no effect on the stones. I use my DMT XXC on all my stones up to 10K and it works great. Don't worry about it.

The DMT also has a break-in period and some of the odd taller diamonds will come off or wear down and you will notice a smoother surface after it has been used some.

In fact, I believe it says to break it in before using it.
