Hello, Looking at the konosuke hd ,hh and richmond aebl laser petty's.

1.Wondering if the hd's steel is as fine grained as the hh's
2. if there are any differences between the hh and richmond aebl laser.
Im looking for a wa petty with a fine grain steel
and with a slim handle (like the moritaka's)

also looking at the richmond hamon 240 suji.
1.when the rose wood handle will be in
2. What the main purpose of the knife is,
is it to be used as a yanagi? I expect alot of wedgeing if used as a gyuto, but you tell me.

thanks for your time.

1. Not sure since hd and hh are proprietary and they don't tell us what the exact formulation is.

2. Yes those two steels are very different. My petty is made with aogami super steel.

3. I'll try and get our woodworker to make some. I think I have a few in stock without handles now.

4. Yes it's like a two sided yanagiba. Yes because of the thickness it will wedge.

1. IMHO, no.

2. Can't tell you specifically....but Mark, he's asking about the AEBL laser, not the AS Laser. :) The steel in the HH is very nice and takes a great edge. Both can take a very nice edge. Between the two, which takes a better....I can't say with certainty.

3. Can't help much with availability. :)

4. A suji is meant as a slicer. Theoretically, it would have less wedging than a gyuto.....they're typically ground thinner, and they have a narrower profile = less wedging.
