So you're saying one computer works and the other doesn't? From the same IP location? Must be the browser. ;)

I don't think you can attribute the problem to a particular browser. As I said, I've tried the latest version of both FF and IE, and just because it works on one person's Mac doesn't mean that it works on other Macs. The problem apparently affects numerous users who presumably run a variety of browser software on different computers.

In any case, good BB software should account for the differences in hardware and browsers. I don't encounter similar problems on other BB sites, so I have to conclude that either the software being used for this site fails to do that, or there's some setting within it that needs to be changed.

Running latest Java version -- 6.0.330.3 -- updated yesterday.

BTW, I'm no nob -- bought my first computer in 1978.

'78? Dang! What'd you get? Altair?

I'm not calling you a nub, but didn't see that you had tried that yet.

Since 1 computer can access it, and the other can't, lets you know it's not a permissions issue on the forum end, but like you said, yes, it should accommodate everyone's software.

Edit: ya know, this is getting interesting now... guess I'll actually have to try and look for a solution instead of blurting out the normal: "well have you updated yet?" (in a nasal-y voice)

Off/On topic: The only thing I ever liked that Jimmy Fallon ever did was the SNL skit where he was the company computer guy... and every time he went to help someone they would start to explain the problem, and he'd just yell "MOOOOOVE!!" and push them out the way, then take over the console. :lol:

Just tried restarting FF with add-ons disabled, thinking one of those might be the source of the problem. STILL no visible buttons.

I got it, maybe view the page source, and figure out what language those buttons are using. That may point to the plug-in or whatnot. Help me out, I know some html but not a lot. :geek:

Okay, look in the first code... you can see that I have the class="edit-icon" and past that. There's your button. You should be seeing this also, do you?

<div class="profile-icons">

<div class="delete-icon"><a href="/posting.php?mode=delete&amp;f=14&amp;p=3583" title="Delete post"><span>Delete post</span></a></div><div class="info-icon"><a href="/mcp.php?i=main&amp;mode=post_details&amp;f=14&amp;p=3583&amp;sid=921d636265f4674a6badac0e0ccb426e" title="Information"><span>Information</span></a></div><div class="report-icon"><a href="/report.php?f=14&amp;p=3583" title="Report this post"><span>Report this post</span></a></div><div class="edit-icon"><a href="/posting.php?mode=edit&amp;f=14&amp;p=3583" title="Edit post"><span>Edit post</span></a></div><div class="quote-icon"><a href="/posting.php?mode=quote&amp;f=14&amp;p=3583" title="Reply with quote"><span>Reply with quote</span></a></div>

</div>

</td>

I see the code you've posted, but no buttons.

Since the problem is in both FF and IE, I thought perhaps it has something to do with my display adapter. This computer has an ATI Radeon HD 3400 with 3GB of available memory. Display is an HP 2710m @ 1980X1080.However, I just checked with my laptop, an Asus UL30A -- same problem.

FWIW, both are running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with Service Pack 1 and all updates installed. The desktop (this one) has 8GB RAM, the laptop has 4GB.

Ya know, since you are getting the code... I'd have to say maybe a security setting with the browser? Not sure if a lower security setting might help. It appears they are using CSS with xhtml for the coding of the page...
