Nah, strop after you clean off the rust. No need getting rust on the strop. :P lol

Though I do wonder how the Diamond Magic would work if it were used as a stropping compound... ;)

Tried stropping with it on newspaper and I didn't get a good result. Maybe better on balsa, but that's not what it's designed for. Think rust removal & cleaning. See diamond sprays or Ken's products for stropping aids.

OK, DefMunky, but in reality I'm really new at this, and was stopping on newspaper after using a 1K oil stone. (All I had available as a cruising round the world sailor.) You actually have me thinking...it may be worth a more controlled experiment after I receive my stones & have some experience with them. I'll post it here, though it may take a while before I feel good about the answer. In the meantime, it's STILL great for cleaning!!!
