Hi all,

I did a quick search and did not find the answer to my question which is:

On the Green Brick product page there is a video and the person in the video states that the Green Brick has a range of approximate 500 to 3000/4000.

What exactly does that mean?
Thanks in advance

It can be used after a 500 grit stone and will polish into the 3-4k range when you let it load. Like most Aoto stones its grit rating can be deceiving.

It's a very powerful stone and cuts quickly, I have even used it after a Naniwa Omura 150, though a little tougher to get all the scratches out it will take them out.

I often combo the chosera 400 and 2k green brick, makes for a very fast sharpening session.

Your welcome,

It's a must have stone IMO, great final stone for about all kitchen knives.

And it's big which Jason appreciates since he's sharpening so many knives. :)

The size does help, its original thickness is about 56mm and mine is currently 39mm :)

I don't know how thick it was when I started using it down here but for the use its been through its slow wearing. I've probably put 10 years of use on it in 3 months. It's awesome with VG-10 too... just putting that out there.

The best edge I ever put on a knife was the first time I used the Green Brick. Coincidence?Imagebut I was sold. One of my favorite stones now.

Honestly I have heard so many great things about the Green Brick of Joy that even tho I put money into a set of Shapton's I purchased it as well. It will probably be primarily for my stainless knives, but I know it does a great job for all knives.

The only drawback with the green brick is that the slurry really gets into every nook and cranny on your fingers, and it doesn't come out nicely. Easily fixed with gloves... but beware.

I really like the feel of the stone. It's buttery smooth.

Thanks All for the info, I ordered and received the green brick and it is everything you all said it was. I just wish I ordered the latte 400 at the same time.
