Thx for the retort Ron.

Did you not find that the GS stones "glazed" quickly on the K390?

Yeah, pics would be great.

:)

Hi Ron! Welcome aboard!

Ron is an old friend and the proud possessor of the FIRST Glassstone stone ever made for the EP. It is a treat to welcome you to this forum and to have your wisdom available to this forum!

Hi Ken - Thanks for the welcome, unfortunately I'm the wrong Ron, I did like the wisdom part though. Maybe I can use it with my wife. I'm pretty much a beginner who discovered this website and then the forums here. I have learned a tremendous amount from you and the other moderators here.
Thanks....Ron

Hi MR - There was a glazing type of effect especially on the courser grit stones, I had to lap the 220, 500 and 1000 grit stones midway through the sharpening process. I used a fair amount of water but still had considerable particle buildup. From some of your and Ken's previous posts I understand that you use a diamond spray on your stones, would that have helped? I did attempt to take pictures of the edge, but they did not turn out. I thought the photography would be easier than it was.
Thanks....Ron

Yes, spritzing the stones with diamond spray aids tremendously!

Definitely less loading & more abrading performance.

:)

Sounds like I need to place another order to CKTG. If you don't mind sharing some of your knowledge I would appreciate your help with the following questions. When using the diamond spray what micron spray should I use? Should I use different micron sprays for different grit stones? I assume I should only use water base spray not the oil based paste. Do I renew the spray after every use or just every time I lap the stone? Do I still use the same amount of water while sharpening or will a lot of water wash out the diamond spray?
Thanks....Ron

If possible use the equivalent spray to grit.

Don't use water when doing this.

Thanks MR - It will be interesting to see how the stones work with the diamond spray when essentially dry. CKTG seems to just have 1 micron and smaller size sprays, do you know if they ever carry the larger spray sizes or is there an alternate source? Thanks again for your help and I'll let you know how it works out.
