You can force more patina over the original one? I believe the factory bevel angle is 15 degrees or so.

Patinas can't be refreshed without drastic alteration. If you try it on yours, you won't make the pattern more visible -- instead you'll darken the whole knife. You can polish out the old pattern with baking soda and a ScotchBrite, then force a new patina with more contrast. If you like contrasty patterns, try a "mustard patina."

So I see how it does and how I could redo it, but so what you are saying is that there is no way to intensify the color of the current pattern?

Well, you can remove it (scotchbrite pads work great for this!!) and redo it however you want and let the material sit on it longer to make it darker. I'm not sure how dark 52100 will take a patina though; never tried it! The patina is formed by the metal reacting to what is on it (vinegar, mustard, etc). In order to darken the patina, you will need to match the patterning exactly. What you can do is dab stuff on the blade to patina it and form a second patina layer and make that layer darker maybe?

NIC <> Your interest seems to create & retain a dark/light contrast, but what you seem to be ignoring is it's all going to even out, regardless. The light areas simply haven't developed a patina, yet. They will with time & usage, and the knife will become more monochromatic.
