You would not be giving up any performance with a Takeda yanagiba (which is actually a double beveled sujihiki, he just calls them yanagiba's).

Between the two, pick based on which one strikes your fancy the most. Both will be incredible, incredible knives.

Does one of you know the height at heel of the Takeda yanagiba?

Edit -- a review on the Takeda product page suggests it's weight is 156 g, about 5.5 oz, at least for that specific one.

That's what I was thinking. Not that I have either. (And both are out of my price range . . . at least for now . . .). Just seems like it would be hard to go wrong with either one.

Go with the one that you really want.

If you don't love it, maybe you'll need to buy the other one to compare.
