hey mark. got the stone today and had to test it out on the blues. one had to have a full sharpening job. went through 40ish pounds of cabbage that needed to be shredded. Leaves basically a mirror polish and a really nice toothy edge. Before progression was pro 220, and 2k pro. time was maybe 10 mins. Very hard stone so dishing wont be to much of a prob. all and all so far great stone. Just need the beta knife now to really test it out on :) Thanks again.

Aaron

Thanks Aaron. I'm glad you like it. They're popular.

Some guys email me and say they're not splash and go. I disagree. What did you think? Let's do this on the forum....

Haven't used the 5k but the 320 and 2k are definitely splash and go.

Ok, so basically I use them as a splash and go style. Where the other two stones, (220, 2k) tend to "hold" the water better, the 5k puddles so if you aren't keeping it a little flat, then yes odds are you are going to loose some of the water. It doesn't take a whole lot of water to get the stone going. Think I did almost three knives before I added a little more. Two blues and an AS. So if you have a spray bottle then I think that that would solve any problems. Hope this helps.

Anyone care to do a video?

Shaptons pros have always peaked my interest but it seems that only one person has ever done a video on them. While a good video its on a cheap knife and I would love to hear the stones work while getting so in progress input. Anyone up to the task? Mark?

I'd certainly consider the 5k pro a splash and go.

5k is splash and go. All the Pro's are.
