Hey everyone.

I am a pretty new hobbyist maker. I made my first knife in October of 2011 and since then have made a little over 10 knives. I don't make that many because I am a full-time student, and also because I am slow. I've actually handled very few real knives (one Carter, and.... that's it I think) and I don't even cook that well, so my work is based purely on what I have studied, imagined, and messed around with.

Here is the very first one, October 2011. Simple, yet ineffective (hardly cuts anything).

Welcome to the jungle Don, stand up and be proud, the only knife I ever made was a cardboard cut out!

Haha, MadRookie... everyone here has to see the full progression first.

On to my 4th knife of January 2012. This one was the turning point where I picked up my style; I was a big fan of octagon handles, d-handles, and ones with big tapers. I experimented and somehow got this shape, which stuck with me ever since.

My 5th knife was my official prototype. It's been through a lot of use since completion mid 2012.

Just got home and I have some time, so I'll post up the rest now.

Couple of lasers around August 2012; I don't make them this thin anymore.

And the very latest, June 2013. 1084 steel (all my knives are 1084), 3.5mm thickness with full taper, ivory paper micarta, stabilized cedar burl from Craig Stevens. This one was a royal pain in particular due to the paper micarta. I've used other papers before, but the ivory was a nightmare - gums up, burns, stains, aesthetic lamination issues, everything.

I just checked this thread on my laptop and some of the photos are gigantic... I'll have to go back and change that soon. Sorry if I have destroyed your eyes...

DON <> Yes, their size screws up the entire page format, but at least they're pretty pictures... 8-)
