I tried forcing a patina on my 240 goko but the results were not desirable and nothing really happened? I assume its because the iron clad won't react the same as the edge will, it being white #1). Is this correct and will a forced patina not work on this knife? In the same efforts would I be wasting my time to attempt a patina on my AS Moritaka?

The Goko knives that Mark carries are clad in stainless steel, only the core is carbon steel. You can do a patina, but only the core (edge) will be affected. If it we me, I would just let a patina naturally form on the exposed carbon steel at the edge. This looks really cool on my Masakage Yuki will the same type of stainless clad over carbon construction.

The Moritaka is a different story - the cladding will be reactive, but unless you have removed the black kurouchi finish, the blade road and core steel at the edge will be the parts of the blade that are affected by the forced patina.

Check out the Blood Root blades entries in the knife makers forum area. They have some comments on how Luke does a really cool forced patina w/mustard.

I've been thinking about offering some of my 52100 addicts with forced patina. I'll whip one up and show it if I'm bored in the next couple days.
