Hi guys.

Reading through some of the threads posted here, it seems to me that a sharpening stone pass around might be a good thing.

I know I have the following stones that I would be happy to pass around.

Arashiyama 6k
Rika 5k
Bestor 1.2k
King 1000/6k combo stone
Latte 400

Am also getting some naturals in that I could pass around.

Anyone like this idea? Anyone got some stones they could pass?

Sounds good to me but I have little to offer -

Shapton Pro 320
Shapton Pro 2k
Arashiyama 1k
Arashiyama 6k

Only thing is stone's can be tricky to send. If they're not 100% dry they seem to crack a lot when being shipped. I don't know if it's a fluck on my end or what...but I've had 2 crack....both were perma-soak stones and were shipped the day after taking out of water.

A new word? Like a frigging fluke. I kind of like it. Like fugly :)

When I get my naturals from Japan, Tanaka-san INSISTS on letting the stones dry for this very reason - plus they weigh more still not dry. And they wet the surrounding material, warping the boxes they are in.

A good point to emphasize!

It may have something to do with an airplane and pressure, too. If they are in the cargo hold, unpressurized, water in the stone may wreck some havoc! I know Lithium batteries need to be in some sort of case to control expansion so they don't explode in luggage or something?
