So as the summer is upon us, I'm working up North for awhile, and I figured the hotel life would be a perfect opportunity to try out the FEATHER ARTIST CLUB RAZOR. For those who aren't familiar, it is a disposable blade system with replaceable inserts that are very much like the blades in disposable cartridges like Fusions or Mach 3's.
Wow, is this thing sharp!
Irregularities on my face that cartridges & even full hollows slide over... these blades slice open. It has been a learning experience thus far, for sure. GENTLE, GENTLE, GENTLE! I can't even believe how may tiny nicks I get from this thing, and I mean with basically no angle - dragging the razor flat with no force, no weight, no angle. It's sharp enough to shave that way, but anything beyond one pass... oh, the razor burn.
That said, I have a notoriously thick beard & incredibly sensitive skin. It took almost 20 years of shaving before I found a disposable cartridge razor that didn't burn me, the Gillette Fusion, of which to date is my perfect shave. Nothing has ever come close to as close a shave, as comfortable a shave, as consistent a shave, or as efficient & easy a shave. Irrespective of this fact, I have stayed dedicated to the straight, and I trudge on laboring through wedges, partial-hollows, hollows, disposables, DE safety-razors looking for the one that will treat my face right.
