The original AS Laser is made in Japan and then sent to Lamson to etch the Richmond name on it. Mark was going to see if he can get Kanji on the blade instead of having to ship them to Lamson to have that done. That process adds time and money to go from Japan to Lamson and then to CKTG.

The Richmond AS Laser is a great knife. I haven't used the Moritaka Supreme AS, so I don't know much about it. The AS Laser is VERY thin behind the edge, so keep that in mind, but it has worked well on stuff like sweet potatoes that are normally very difficult to cut.
