I don't really know of any knife that's a step up in the Takeda style. Kind of the end game with him IMHO.
If you like a really wide gyuto, KU finish, carbon steel knife....yep, he's the end game as far as I'm concerned.
I'm actually stumped what to recommend as a second gyuto right now. I guess I'd have to recommend a different style all together. Something like a Kono HD or a Fujiwara Nashiji:http://www.chefknivestogo.com/funa24gyocha.html
I don't know that it would a step up in quality though....I really like Takeda's gyuto's. It would just be different IMHO.
