I figured I would post some pics here. This is my Saya wood stash so far:

Top to bottom is Lacewood, Mammoth Kauri, Curly Maple, Bubinga and Walnut:

Walnut, Wenge, Bolivian Rosewood, Cherry, Birch:

Basswood, my normal spacer material. It is one of the least expensive woods I can get, so I will try a saya out of it and see if it holds up. If not, Birch will probably become my basic option for a lower cost saya.

Got to play with 3 Takeda's! 270mm gyuto, 150mm petty and a thick Yanagiba or something, 210mm maybe? Interesting to see the concave grind on the Gyuto. Behind the blade bevel, the side of the knife is concave on both sides. These were interesting to do saya's for. Normally I can compare the spine thickness right in front of the handle to match up the spacer thickness. With these, the thickest part of the spine was around 1"-3" forward of the handle/spine junction! Had to do some filing to get it to fit.

Another Takeda 270 and Bolivian Rosewood. Got the knife in today and it just needs a couple of coats of finish rubbed in!

Yes, these are for the Will Catcheside/Burke Cutlery Utility Knife buy from another forum. A bunch of us stepped up to get these finished and out to customers after Eamon ran into some hard times. I also have 15 Addict 2 saya's I am hoping to finish up this weekend!
