I found one of these combo stones laying around the shop today and sense its been some years that I last used a king I figured I would try it out.

I sharpened a very dull nakiri in about 5 minutes using just this stone, surprisingly it did very well leaving a nice polish to the hair popping edge.

No you do not need a stone between unless you have premium PM steels. Otherwise the jump in grit is fine, no need for anything but a strop.

i got my new knife the sharpest i've ever seen any knife in my life its awesome!!! thanks cktg! now i just gotta pick a new gyuto for work
