If you want to post something for sale in our classified section, we require that you have at least 30 posts on our forum first. This is so we can get familiar with who you are and be sure that you aren't going to try anything funny on our friends. We do not hold any accountability for the transactions that take place here, so you are entering at your own risk. That being said, most of the people here are trustworthy, but don't bet your bank on it. Take precautions as necessary, and please be respectful of other people.

We also request that you post pictures of the item for sale to help ensure everyone gets a chance to see.

So far, our classified section has been absolutely fantastic! Have fun, follow the rules, both hands inside the vehicle at all times, and post away. I'm sure there are some great knives just waiting for new homes and happy owners!

Just a quick bump to this thread, the rules get amended from time to time. Thanks guys, things have been running smoothly and we will keep trying to make it better.

As for a rule amendment, I propose that all paypal payments are made as payment for goods and services, rather than a gift. This came up in a current sales thread, but I should write my thoughts here instead.

I realize people can choose to send a gift to save a bit of money, but I think it's a risky practice. Most of these forum type sales go smoothly, and if there is an issue, I think (and hope) people can resolve things on their own.

For buyer protection (since buyers are at far more risk than sellers), I think it should be a requirement to handle all of these transactions as a sale of goods--what they really are. A concern is that if someone came on with less than honorable intentions, they might request the buyer to make the payment as a gift, which would help them to get away with it, and leave the buyer with no way to pursue the matter.

Suggest using PayPal's invoicing:

ref. https://www.paypal.com/webapps/mpp/email-invoice

Here are the PayPal instructions:

An invoice is a way of billing your customers. You can ask that they pay you through PayPal, by credit or debit card or by sending you a check or cash.

When you use PayPal invoices, you can:

Create and email invoices as well as simple payment requests.
Accept credit and debit card payments securely through PayPal.
Record offline payments, such as checks or wire transfers.
Track and manage your invoices and payments.
Create invoice templates to use for future sales of similar items.

Here's how to create an invoice:

Log in to your PayPal account.
Click Request Money near the top of the page.
Click Create Invoice near the top of the page.
Select a template or "New Invoice" if this is your first invoice, or if you haven't created an invoice template.
Enter your information, the customer's information, and then the details of the sale.
Click Send at the bottom of the page, or Save as Template, then save.

Note: You can save an invoice as a template after you have sent it. On the "Invoice Sent" page, name the invoice and click Save.
