Been trying to catch up lately so I haven't had a chance to post here.
Mark, Thank you for the opportunity you've given me and others to have our own subforums here. Certainly a kinder and more positive approach than other forums that ask you to pay to post. Kudos to you.
As many of you know, Mark carries many of my products over on Ken's Corner:http://www.chefknivestogo.com/kenscorner.html
If you have any questions about any of these products, just ask me - recommendations about which ones to select, how to use them, etc etc. Send me a PM or email me at ksskss at earthlink dot net.
I also can provide custom solutions beyond the standard items available at CKTG . I provide custom cut stones - both natural and synthetic for the EdgePro and Wicked Edge. This includes Nubatama stones, Atoma plates (diamond plates), Shapton and Chocera stones, etc etc. At the moment I'm in the process of introducing even more Nubatama stones for the EP.
This includes custom strops, compounds in various grits and formulations, Diamond Films, etc etc. Also a selection of natural stones beyond those available on CKTG. This includes Meara, various Aoto stones (Monzen, Kouzaki, Aono, etc). Compounds include diamond, CBN and other compounds. I have compounds as coarse as 300 microns and as fine as 25 nanometer (0.025 microns) - 10x finer than quarter micron.
I'm also exclusively importing Nubatama stones and knives, which Mark carries on CKTG. Nubatama knives' signature line is composed of Black steel, however he also works in Blue and White steels and can do custom work - including 360 mm yanagis, white steel debas, etc etc. Many of these we get without handles and have custom handles made for them by artists that Mark works with. These knives can also be ordered with custom engraving of your name carved phonetically in Kanji on the knife. For custom needs, please contact Mark or I about these.
The Nubatama stones consist of two series - Ume or plum and Bamboo (Take, pronounced Ta' ke). There are a total of approximately 30 stones in this series, with videos showing examples of each being used. Grits range from 24 grit to 15,000 grit. Many of these stones are quite unique and work exceptionally well used with natural stones or used with other synthetic stones too. I feel this selection represents the widest range of choices available to meet your sharpening needs.
I also use my products - for knife sharpeners of course, but also straight razor honers, woodworkers and even sword polishers.
I also sharpen knives, so if someone is interested in getting an edge done to a very refined edge, a natural stone finish or have any unique requirements like precise angles or geometry, just contact me. I also do major repairs, reshaping edge profiles (belly removal), etc etc. I customize edges to meet customer's very specific needs and don't sharpen knives 'all the same'. No level one or two or three - I just do exactly what you need and make suggestions if you aren't sure what you want. I also work on very modest knives too
My latest projects include introducing a new line of emulsion based compounds. I also do experimental work which results in new products in development and new ways of using existing products. You will often see me posting and answering questions in the Sharpening and EdgePro sections.
Hope to hear from all of you.
A special note and a big WELCOME! to new guys on the forum and Lurkers - Don't be shy! Ask lots of questions! It's why we are here. We all had to start somewhere and the expert sharpeners on this forum all like to help.
