Thanks much, Adam. I appreciate it. I think this, or a gyuto would probably be a good first "good" Japanese knife for me. I have an Artifex 210, so this might just be the ticket for starting out.
Thanks again for the comment, too.

I had been looking at the Kikuichi Warikoma Damascus, but it is out of stock. What do you think of this knife? I may call and find out if it's going to be stocked again and wait on it if it's not going to be a terribly long time, especially if it's a nicer knife.

I've owned both, and the warikomi damascus is a prettier knife, but the TKC is a better one. It takes and holds an edge better, and the fit and finish of the handle is a touch better. But, if you like bling ...
