George, I am ready to ship to the next person. The forum refresh eliminated your prior emails to me. Let me know who it goes to next.

I was going to try to redo the tip, but my weekend got hectic with my son heading back to college. The rest of the knife is pretty sharp but it could probably use a touchup.

I like the knife. Very well done. Nice handle. Feels good on the board. The tip I know can perform better after a more capable sharpener gives it a go, but it was hard to compare to the KS. The KS is the king of tips and few if any knives can match up to it. I wish I could have found out how close yours came to matching it.

The knife is quite reactive, of course. I took off the patina when I got it and let a little build during use, though I clean knives quickly and regularly. Not an issue for those who dont mind patinas.

If I had a criticism, Tim, I'd say the knife is a subpar rocker. I would have liked slightly more sweep, at least on the front half of the blade, to allow for improved rocking. The KS is suitable as a rocker on the front half of the blade for herbs and the like. This knife is definitely a chopper/pusher with a profile more akin to my Tetsuhiro Hammered or Kono ginsan.

All in All, I am quite impressed that a guy from ... Massachusetts made this beauty. (-:

Thanks for the input. I will grab that profile and tweak it a bit and save a new version. I really like the idea of a little more sweep, that is how I like my personal knives too. One of the nice things about using my solidworks background for this stuff. I made my version of the KS based on the web site photo, it gets me in the ballpark on profile but the edge geometry was based off of reading descriptions:) and George's help of course!
