Put electrical tape on the back of the paper and it won't break. ;)

Oh, and don't over round it.

If you're not careful, you can actually make the spine sharp. As you progress, hold the sandpaper out away from the knife making a larger arc. If you shoe shine with your hands really close to the knife, you can create a sharp spine.
