I sprayed some .25 micron diamond spray on one side of the deburring block and it really improves the edge. I stropped the edge then sliced phone book paper. Then cut a couple of cuts into the block. The edge cut a little bit easier (smoother) through the paper. Then I cut into the corner of the side I sprayed the .25 micron spray on. It cut even smoother than after using the block plain and using the block plain does a great job. Just for fun I cut the block in half and applied some boron carbide to the opposite side than the .25 was on. I say for fun because my edges are plenty sharp enough for doing the job. This playing around is just for curiousity. I do learn some useful stuff from time to time. Add that to the info I get on this forum and I may be smart one day. :D

I may try the hard felt strop one day. Does anyone have any info or opinion you would like to share with me about felt strops? I would appreciate it.

A felt strop is about the only strop I ever use any more. Loaded with diamond spray, it makes a great deburring tool.

I'm not fond of them. I prefer balsa or horse leather. Especially on the EP felt becomes messy.
I like the flatness of leather and balsa. Felt always gets bumpy for me :(.

It works very well for deburring though, but I've been taught to sharpen and abrade the burr off. That's what I do now most of the time. When doing quick work, I draw the blade through a felt black just to make sure.
