Petty length and thoughts of Moritaka for petty

Tue Dec 11, 2012 9:37 am

Besides a Gyuto, I am also considering a petty knife.

Kind of stuck between the 150mm vs 165mm. Thoughts on the most useful length?

Also, I am looking at getting a matching Moritaka Supreme Petty....one of these:

Are there other brands I should look at for this style knife? Should I maybe go semi-stainless?

Thoughts on matching your Gyuto to your Petty (ie same brand and style)?

Thanks!

I like them a little longer. You can do more things easily with them.

Try this new yamashin we just got: http://www.chefknivestogo.com/yakoya16.html

It's way more fun to collect different knives than the stay with one brand. You'll learn more about different steels and knives by cherry picking knives from different makers.

Gonna skip getting a petty for now and "live with" my 130 mm Misono UX-10.

Decided instead to get some knife sharpening accessories along with my new Moritaka KS 250mm.
