Nubatama 150

Fri Jan 17, 2014 11:45 pm

I'm an EP guy but I have http://www.chefknivestogo.com/nushset.html and use the 150 for tip repair....only have good knives from CKTG so not brave enough to use them all yet.
How long should I soak this monster? I soaked it the other day for 1/2 hour and it was still thirsty :shock:
Let it dry for three days before I put it away.
It did a great job on the tip repair but I don't at to kill it by using it too dry.

You won't kill it. The particles will break off more like all coarse stones do. Have a spray bottle to mist it. How do you like the 150 grit? I was thinking about it but it's pricey.

My experience with the Nubatama 150 was that the water just drained out of it at first, and I needed to apply heavy spray every 10-15 seconds. But after using a few times I had better mud formation which in turn helped with water retention. Now when I'm done using it I just give it a little rinse so not to jet all the broken particles from the surface.

The trick is to use less water letting the surface run dry. The mud will form faster this way.

Umberto;

This is my first experience with a 150 but I like this one a lot.
Cuts very quickly then I follow up with the Nuba 220 black then a 1k then a Nuba 2K then a Nuba 3K.
Finish with one or two light passes with a .5 cbn strop.
