I made a LARGE pot of beef stew last night. The part I'd like to share is that I got my 14 year old son to do all the prep work!! I always talk about how sharp my Tanaka 240 gyuto is and he said he'd like to 'try it out' An hour or so later we had a HUGE pile of carrots, potatos, celery, onions, and fairly consistant cubed beef. He enjoyed using a sharp knife so much that he asked if he could bring his mom's knives over to be sharpened. Not missing a chance to teach him a new. life long skill, I agreed but told him he will have to do the sharpening himself (with guidance of course). He is wicked excited to get started!! I've already turned him on to Mark's sharpening for noobs videos, and of course with 14 year pld confidence i got "that looks easy!" Looking forward to the upcoming sharpening 'event' and want to thank everyone on here that gave me the advice/confidence to enter this new world of knives and sharpening!

Nothing like starting them young. Should make for great father/son time too! Enjoy.
